Soooo the Germans won against the English... hb was super excited.. I watched it in our hotel room while hb went to the lobby lounge to watch it with others... unbelievable game!! I was jumping up and down on my bed while Sonia was fast asleep in her bed and the worst part.. hb caught me in the act when he went up to our room at half time kahkahkah... Its either he prefered to watch the rest of the game with his wifey or there were simply too many English supporters in the lounge lol... anyway ENGLAND: You have been outclassed, outplayed and outsmarted! now lets see if Germany can beat Argentina hmmmm

Yesterday we had a super relaxing afternoon... didnt do much really... had late breakfast... took Sonia for a dip in the pool... hb later took me to a baking supply shop called Bagus in KL..(I realised its soooo much more cheaper to get baking pan fm Jakarta but I did see a bundt pan that looks like my Nordicware bundt pan gng for RM47 under a different brand name lol).. we also took Sonia to the KLCC Aquaria aka our Underwater World except the Aquaria is much more newer and smells nicer too muahahha.. Sonia loves it there! Hb has been gone since like seven this morning... early meetings = bad traffic :o(

I am so so glad that hb managed to put aside his dissapointment for a good weekend with his family... no worries dear... I am pretty sure u will be able to cope!

Ok ok enough rambling... my entry today shud be all abt Sonia and not abt Ms Piggy hahahha... We got into KL slightly after Zohor , well we had planned to drive out after Subuh but unfortunately due to some unforseen matters (seriously.. how can ppl just drop everything, knowing theres a few projects going on right now .. to me thats very unprofessional and hb was pretty dissapointed after his meeting last night) ... ANYWAY... we drove out at half past 10.. checked in.. sholat and drove out again to One Utama... we decided today shud be Sonia's day since both mama and papa are "exhausted" fm shopping... The moral of the story...

.... With half a block of cream cheese that is expiring today.. I decided to gv this recipe a try eventho my body and mind tells me that I shud just chill and relax today...

.... And when ur body doesnt feel like doing anything.. it shows lol.. while piping in the cream cheese batter, my ziplock bag (had to use ziplock cos i ran out of piping bags) burst and out came all the cream cheese batter into my baking pan... I panicked and quickly scooped it out and continued to pipe in my chocolate batter using piping bag and used a ladle to scoop my cream cheese batter (now why cant i just do like how i normally wud do.. use a ladle!!!) and after 40mins in the oven.. I took it out only to see a few long cracks on my cake... sob sob sob

.... Oh well

Eventho the appearence is not perfect... the taste and the texture of this cake is what I expected it to be... :o)))

For those who hv baked a cake that has a combination of chocolate and cheese they will know how wonderful and tasty this cake turned out to be... am a happy puppy!

No time to update my blog yesterday... Hairi is home.. hes sick and was given three days of medical leave.. I bet that put a smile on that sickly face.. hahahah. As always when hes around.. his mama has to cook up a storm and for whatever reason the menu will always hv to be rice followed by a few dishes.. desert will be something that has got to do with his fav too.. (not that he asks for it.. I think its just me... especially now that I only get to see him on weekends!) I also managed to steam glutinous rice and cook serawa durian yesterday for my break fast desert plus serawa durian is our all time fav!

Anyway since he will be home for the next few days I figured there is no harm in baking his fav pandan chiffon knowing very well that my hb probably will not even wanna take a bite but again I think he will since Ningnong chiffon recipe has always been a hit in our household (her chiffon somehow produces a much more moist chiffon) .. oh well... as long as everyone can enjoy my fruit.. I am a happy woman!

Ingredients
(A)
200g flour (I used cake flour)
150g sugar
100ml cooking oil (I used canola oil)
125ml coconut milk or fresh milk or even water (I used coconut milk)
5 egg yolks
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
a few drops of pandan paste (I used 1 tsp)
a few drops of green colouring (I added)

(B)
7 egg white
1/2 tsp cream of tartar or salt
100g sugar

Method
1. Sift flour, baking powder and soda three times.. set aside
2. Whisk egg yolk with sugar and salt till pale in colour
3. Add in oil and coconut milk and continue to whisk till fluffy
4. Add in pandan paste and green colouring if ur using
5. Fold in sifted flour lightly
6. In another bowl.. whisk egg white till foamy.. add in cream of tartar and continue to whisk till soft peak.. add in sugar in several stages and continue to beat till stiff peak.
7. Add the beaten egg white into the egg yolk batter in 3 separate additions, each time folding gently with a spatula until just blended.
8. Pour batter into a 24cm (I used 22cm) tube pan (do not grease the pan). Tap the pan lightly on the table top to get rid of any trapped air bubbles in the batter.
9. Bake in pre-heated oven at 160 degC for 45 ~ 50mins or until the cake surface turns golden brown, and a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
10. Bake for a further 10mins at 175C (use aluminium foil to cover the top so as to prevent it browning too quickly)
11. Remove from the oven and invert the pan immediately. Let cool completely before unmoulding. To remove the cake from the pan, run a thin-bladed knife around the inside of the pan and the center core. Release the cake and run the knife along the base of the pan to remove the cake.

A simple bake for a simple Monday... earlier on I finally got the chance to taste my Donna Hay's cuppies that I baked yesterday and let me tell u something abt it.. not only is the cake rich.. the buttercream tastes yummilicious! I must admit that I had some probs pipping the buttercream at first as the texture of the buttercream was a little runny for my liking but once I piped it and placed it in my fridge to let it set.. it worked wonders.. so do gv that cuppies recipe a try cos to me.. it tastes equally as delish as the truffle cuppies...

Anyway heres another recipe fm Ibu Tio .. I wished these cookies tasted more of coffee than chocolate but if ur using like 50g of cocoa powder.. what do u expect?? hehehe.. next time i will add a tsp of coffee oil or maybe add another 1/2 tbsp of instant coffee to gv it a more coffee taste...

Ingredients
185g flour
50g cocoa powder (I used KoKo Black fm Melbourne)
1/2 tbsp instant coffee (I used nescafe)
225g butter
125g icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence

Method
Preheat oven 150C
Sift flour, cocoa powder and instant coffee
Beat butter and icing sugar till soft... Add in sifted dry ingredients and continue to beat till well combined
Add in vanilla essence
Pipe batter onto baking tray.. sprinkle with cherry, raisins, almond nibs or icing sugar.. whatever u hv in ur pantry..
Bake for abt 15 to 20 mins (I baked mine for 12 mins)
